43 Years Ago Today...

she gave birth to me.

She didn't get to name me, feed me or hold me but she loved me.

She loved me so much she gave me up.

She gave me to them. I was so lucky.

I always wondered about her and one day a long time ago I got to meet her.

I never got the chance to know her well but it was enough for me to learn what a wonderful human being I came from.

Someday, a very long time from now, I will see her again.

Happy Birth Day to my Birthmother.
Susan

  8. What a lovely post, Susan. My dad was adopted and had a similar experience as you, meeting his birth mother late in life. He was lucky enough to spend a few years getting to know her before she passed away. Happy birthday!

  11. Awww!!! Happy birthday! What a great post! More similarities here... I have a birthday coming up soon this month (I'll be 44), and my husband was also adopted at birth, though he's never met his birth mother.

  19. what a wonderful post. You and my dad share a similar story. 2 years ago this May his birthmother passed, but she gave him the greatest gift of all, 2 sisters and a brother who welcomed him graciously into their lives. Lovely :)
