Blogging Directly From Our Thoughts

Wouldn't it be great if we could take our thoughts and have them nicely laid out here in Blogger/WordPress/etc automatically? I think it would be so cool if there was a way we could dictate our thoughts and creative ideas directly to our computers so that the time it takes to find a pen or have a moment to sit down and type out that thought, is not lost.  I write awesome blog posts in my head while washing dishes or driving kids around but sometimes when I sit down here to start typing, nothing flows.  I guess my brain is more creative when I am working on something else at the same time. Any of you have this same issue?

Enough Sci Fi.  Earlier this morning I remembered that I had the fabric cut for Block Eight of the of the FQS Designer Mystery Block of the Month 2010 so I sewed it up while enjoying the sun streaming in my front windows across my sewing table.  I'm not a huge fan of the time change in the Spring but I love it in the Fall.

Four more to go
I  had a lovely surprise in my backyard yesterday when walking around and assessing my citrus trees ~ my Mexican lime tree has actually given me some limes!  I first planted this tree in the whiskey barrel you see in the photo below where it barely limped along for two years.  After two years I decided to put it in the ground in my north facing portion of my yard which is not ideal as it doesn't receive enough sun but at the time that was the best choice.
Mexican Lime Tree
This darn tree has grown and flowered but has never given up one lime until now.  So happy to add the lime to my citrus hunt yesterday.

Off to do homework...

  2. Yes, I am incredibly witty in my head while driving kids around, but once I sit down at the computer I find myself staring blankly at the screen for far too long! Terribly jealous about the homegrown citrus, too!

  3. Sic-fi and citrus together in one post! Let's face it, quilts tie everything together !

  4. If only the thought to computer was a reality!! I am exactly the same way, well, when I was blogging anyway. :) Here's a tip if you want more limes on your tree that I got from a friend many years ago: bury a banana peel in the soil. First time I did that, my citrus trees bloomed like crazy a few weeks later. Now I add banana peels under my trees whenever I have them available!

  5. I do not think I would like automatic typing of my thoughts... sometimes they are rather naughty and are better left unsaid.

  6. I don't think automatic brain-to-blogger posts would work for me. I have vague ideas for posts but never really know what I'm going to type. Sometimes I have nothing to say but I start and then words just flow, and sometimes get out of hand.
That's a pretty house block. It must be exciting taking part in a mystery bee.

  7. I guess it goes without saying that the perfect companion to your Mexican lime is a shot of tequila? Ole! I wonder if the banana peel trick would work on a blood orange tree? I have had a blood orange tree living in the backyard rent-free for about 5 years. and so far it has only yielded one orange - the size and texture of a golf ball :/

I love the fabrics in your mystery quilt, I can't wait to see the finished product!

  8. How cool! The block is great, but the lime is even better! I'd LOVE to have a citrus tree in my yard! Getting to see yours is pretty good too though!

  9. I am glad I am not the only one, I wrote and rewrote a blog post in my head over the weekend and now that I am at the computer I can't even remember the title of it. Oh I so wish I could capture those thoughts right away. Jackie
