  1. Interesting question. I would go back in time to meet the grandparents who passed before I was born. I've heard wonderful stories and would like to know them in person.
Thanks for the great giveaway. Happy holidays.

  2. Wow, beautiful tote...such talent. I would project myself onto the spacecraft that carried Neil Armstrong onto the moon. Instead of Neil stepping out...I would step out!

  3. I almost bought that pattern last week! I'm kinda scared of the past, with the lack of sewer systems etc. But say, a romanticized sanitized version... I'd go with a time before when we could manipulate our environment with light and heat, to experience how people lived with the rhythm of the earth and seasons.

  4. I would go to the Middle Ages, but only if I could switch genders & go as a man. Otherwise, I'd head to the 1920s & embrace life as a flapper. ;)

  7. Thanks for the giveaway. I've a;ways loved this bag pattern. My husband and I have often talked about this because he loves history and time travel movies. While I love reading historical fiction, as a woman I've said I prefer today to any other time. I'd hover over other time periods and observe from afar though. First choice would be the time of Christ. But honestly seeing my parents and husband as infants would be so special.

  9. I think I would go visit the Tudor era - would love to see how that era's fashion was created from what we would consider limited technologies. I have read a few books about Henry VIII and relatives but I imagine like most of us I prefer the conveniences of the modern era.

  10. Great tote. I've made bags for years for everyone but myself so would love to win this. If I could go back in time I would choose to go back to the 30s or 40s when life was so much simpler and there was no TV or other distractions.

  11. Cute cute bag!. I would want to go back to early pioneer days when they were moving west. I am not sure I would survive the rigors of life back then, but I would like to try.

  12. OBSESSED with that main fabric - so please pick me?!? As for me, I'd travel back to Ancient Egypt, ideally to when Hatshepsut was Pharaoh. Speaking of obsessions, Ancient Egypt is definitely mine. I don't know if maybe I lived there in a past life or what, but I could read (and reread) nothing but books about that civilization and be happy. Whether it was the life of the peasants (not awesome) or the rich (also not awesome but better than the peasants!), I just can't get enough.

  14. I grew up about 30mins from one of the main towns that Laura Ingalls Wilder lived (in South Dakota), and I've always been fascinated with pioneer/homesteading life... so that's how far back I'd go! Well, either then or around the time Elizabeth the first took the English throne... I love that time period, too!

I'd like to go back to the year 2000... all was good then for me... a loving boyfriend (now hubby) and my dad was still with me and not yet plagued by the dreaded ALS that took his life 7 years ago.... I'd give anything to spend time with him again! as far as a period in time, I feel kind of akin to the 1950's and loved the way they dressed and ate and the movies!!

  31. Good for you for participating in the SewMamaSew giveaway extravaganza!

Your question is hard, because my real answer is that I want to go back into some historical novels and observe, but not actually have to participate, wear a massive dress and have to worry about offending someone.

I agree with Kelly O! that the late 40s or early 50s would be interesting, especially if I could spend time with my grandmother at that time and see what was really going on. I'd also like to meet the great grandmother after whom I was named (middle name). Alternately, the late Victorian or early Edwardian eras would be interesting from a purely historical and "is this book actually accurate" point of view. Of course, I would want to be a member of an aristocratic household, because we all know I was switched with a princess at birth. ;-) I would want to miss World War 1, however. It occurs to me that there are other wars around those times that I would run into.

  32. I've often thought about that question, too far back, you run the risk of getting eaten by a sabertooth or wooly mammoth, coming down with the plague or getting forced into marriage by a guy that's already got 23 wives and have 12 children before the age of 20. So it would all depend on if I could get killed or not. That being said I think the roaring 20s would be a great time to go back to, I've heard it was a pretty good party! Smoking, drinking, dancing and those cute flapper dresses, yes please.

  33. This is a tough question because I'm sure I romanticize the hardships of earlier eras. If I could choose where to live as well as the time period, I think I would live on a small farm or in a small town in my grandparents' era, the 1880s to 1900. An era with some conveniences but without the pesticides and chemicals, without the expectations of so much "stuff" that came later, with a sense of neighborliness and community. My grandparents lived into their 90's with mental capacity intact, without major health problems, and seemed to had a simple but satisfying and independent life. I wonder if they would agree?

I would send myself back to the early 1950's in Memphis, TN, just before Elvis became so hugely popular. Maybe I could bump into him while he was driving truck-just a small bump, so that I could meet him and maybe go for a date! I was a tween when he passed away and do remember the moment when I heard.
